Another Top 10 List

Mind Body Disc had a good blog post on another Top 10 List titled "One Thing I Don’t Want in my Disc Golf Bag." This subject of this post is "top 10 reasons no one should ever knock another disc company."

A worthwhile commentary that a person should embrace and try to keep in mind on a minute-by-minute and day-to-day basis. We're all different. We're all human beings. Get along. Not only that but enjoy the differences in disc golf manufacturer's products and, most of all, learn to respect others, whether they be individuals or disc golf equipment manufacturers.

10 things That Annoy Disc Golfers

Disc Troy's blog had an interesting subject that I'm sharing with you here, The Top 10 Things That Disc Golfers Do (that really ANNOY other disc golfers).

I think we're pretty fortunate in the Quad Cities area as I don't see all ten of these annoying things but then I am a recreational player and, as such, am not out on a course on a daily basis. Doggone it!

Items 3) Vandalism, 2) Trash and Litter, and 1) Thieves are most familiar to me in my limited experience in our area. It seems the majority of Quad Cities area disc golfers are appreciative and considerate as well as helpful.

One aspect of thievery that I've seen and heard of is stealing discs. One such occurance took place while two people were playing the course!!! Not to mention their names and phone numbers were on their discs! Like Disc Troy states, "Disc golfers in general are a very socially acceptable group, if you need something, someone is always willing to give it to you, get it to you, work it out for you, or share it with you." I agree with Troy as I've witnessed and been the recipient of other players willingness to "give it to you, get it to you, work it out for you, or share it with you." Remember, as Steady Ed Headrick said, "Most Fun Wins!!!"

Sidearm of Forehand Disc Golf Shots

Disc Golf Family blog has gathered five different videos on forehand or sidearm disc golf throws. They're all very good and highly recommend giving them a view as the sidearm or forehand throw in disc golf is a good throw to start out with as it's quite a bit more natural than the backhand throw. Not to mention it's another throw to add to your arsenal of disc golf techniques. Some of the videos, Avery Jenkins', for example, you may have seen in a past posting in this blog. But there's one I'd never seen before where they show several pro's throws in slow motion. Good stuff!!!

Midrange Approach Shot Basics

I've got little distance on my drives so I work at getting as close to the basket as I can when I'm close enough to reach it with a putter, mid-range or fairway driver. A newsletter from Average Disc Golf blog showed up in my inbox recently that contained the video below by Discraft and Scott Papa, Discgolfer Magazine's Instructional Editor. In this video, Scott "walks you through the essential elements of mid-range approach shots." Scott's also a Pro player who's been in the top 10 of the Masters division 5 of the last 7 Worlds Tourneys. I have a lot of respect for his tutorials.

Disc Golf Up Shot Technique to Control Distance Accurately

This post on Mind Body Disc's blog I found pretty beneficial. Especially since I'm still learning as well as trying to develop a good form. The author the blog titled Disc Golf Up Shot Technique to Control Distance Accurately was utilizing this method after experiencing issues with bulging and herniated discs in his back. His approach makes a lot of sense to me, especially the short videos he included in the post. Hope you readers find some benefit from it, too.

In The Bag - Sarah Hokum

Central Coast Disc Golf caught up with the great sidearm thrower, Sarah Hokum, in 2013 and show what's in her bag as well as some of fine shots at a tourney she was playing. On her putts you see a good execution of Balance. You might remember that PDGA rule 803.04C.

Here's the PDGA video demonstrating rule 803.04C - Demonstrating Balance when Putting.
