Testimonials to the Sport of Disc Golf

While searching disc golf blogs, I came across a now defunct blog with this jewel of a video below titled, "Rotating discs: The other kind of golf." I felt it captured the reasons for the joy and fun the players interviewed have in the sport. Enjoy!

As I read Heavy Disc's blog, I realize more and more the meaning of the blog title, Heavy Disc.

This hukker and blogger really gets into the fine art of Disc Golf deeply. Similar to Dave Feldberg. Sometimes it seems too much for me and, as in this blog post, too much for him, too.

Well, that's okay. He did a pretty good job of making his point understandable to the less scientifically inclined, such as myself. Enjoy the video below as well as read his post, A Kinematic Chain, is You and broaden your horizon of understanding!

Something to Look Forward to In 2015 League Play

2015 is here and I'm ready and eager for league play with anyone else who's up for another year of hukkin' plastic with me!

As this post from Explore Disc Golf illustrates, I hope to get back to Bag Tags and the friendly, fun, competiveness it will afford for us!

Now to come up with a cool bag tag!

Disc Golf Etiquette: Not Standing in Someone’s Line of Sight

Etiquette in Disc Golf is just as important as in any sport.

I learned about not standing in someone's line of sight at a round this past summer. I thought I was being courteous by not moving but the person putting was distracted by me being in his line of sight. And, courteously, asked me to avoid that on the rest of the play. Naturally, I acquiesced to his request.

You can read more about this subject at Explore Disc Golf's blog post here.

Another Disc Golf Beginner Tip: Throw DX Plastic

This Beginner Tip from Explore Disc Golf provides wisdom in disc selection.

Worthwhile advice as reading their post will bear out, I believe. DX is not as expensive and, when buying an Innova beginner's set, you're getting a good start on the game with discs that are best for beginners! Not really like riding a bike with training wheels but not too far from that analogy either as once more experience is acquired, one can move on to the higher end plastics such as Champion, Gstar, Star, etc.

Disc Golf Beginner Tip: “Miss Right”

Explore Disc Golf blog's Beginner Tip: "Miss Right" is dead on by the title alone, as well as the material in the post! It's got to do with Right Hand Back Hand drives or throwing based upon the rotation of the disc in the air, which is counter clockwise. For a lefty the advice would be "Miss Left." They go into it in a bit more depth and with a greater technical understanding than I have or give it when saying that to a fellow player with less experience than I. So go to that blog post, and perhaps gain a better understanding as I did.

And Happy New Year to you all!!!
